Horse Crime Fighter brings Justice

California criminals consider yourself warned. Fresno County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol Unit has a new four-legged equine deputy named Justice.

Not only does he know how to bow, count and smile – he arrested his first perp last month. Deputy Christian Lightner and Justice pinned the suspect against a bench. Nothing like throwing your weight around to stop the bad guys (all 1000 pounds of it).

The department ran a contest to name the 8-year-old red sorrel Quarter Horse. Now, the aptly named gelding Justice has a following of sorts. Justice’s fans can find him patrolling the streets or online via social media. His Instagram account already has more than 140 followers.

If you see him on the street, give him and his partner a thumbs up, take a photo with him, and post it to his account using the hashtag #justicethesheriffhorse.
