Stable Manager

A jury found the stable manager of Canter Brook Equestrian Center in Massachusetts guilty of nine charges including forgery and larceny on Thursday.

The long-time fraudster Jerry Dawson also goes by the name Jeffrey Scott Haywood.

Dawson forged the out-of-state stable owner’s signature to obtain a $100,000 mortgage on the property. John “Jack” Larmer lives in Virginia.

The prosecution said at least another $400,000 of $1.1 million Larmer gave to Dawson to run the stable is missing. Dawson transferred the funds to accounts only he controlled.

For years, Dawson claimed he owned the Hamilton boarding stable.

Informed Decisions – $35 Background Checks

The conviction also stems from Dawson’s theft of a race car and trailer.

The jury found Dawson not guilty of three larceny charges.

Dawson remains behind bars on $500,000 bond. Dawson allegedly tried to hire gang members to kill Canter Brook Equestrian Center’s owner and his wife. Dawson has not been charged with the alleged crime.

A judge will sentence Dawson on March 28.

Canter Brook Equestrian Center is under new management.
